About The Author
Jim West
Jim West was born in Texas, raised in a small town in the Texas panhandle, and continues to live in the great state of Texas.
Jim West grew up on a small family farm near Muleshoe, Texas, where open skies and quiet days sparked his imagination. His early years shaped a deep love for adventure and self-reliance. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he pursued his education and later joined the U.S. Air Force, beginning a long and dedicated flying career.
After sixteen years of military service, Jim retired and began the next chapter of his flying career with American Airlines. For nearly two decades, he flew both domestic and international routes as a commercial pilot, gaining experiences and stories that would later inspire his novels. When he retired from aviation, he returned to the cowboy lifestyle he had always loved, ranching, team roping, and enjoying the peaceful rhythm of rural life. Through it all, his curiosity, discipline, and humor never faded.
Jim eventually turned his attention to writing, combining his years of military service, flying, and life experience into fiction that feels remarkably real. His acclaimed Assassin series began with The Making of an Assassin: Atlanta and continued with titles like Assassin in Berlin and Assassin in Cairo. Each story reflects his deep respect for detail and authenticity, blending fact and fiction in a way that keeps readers guessing what’s real. With his signature mix of realism, wit, and heart, Jim West has built a literary legacy that celebrates adventure, courage, and the spirit of the American West.
